This is a community of dog owners, pet researchers, health care providers and breeders experienced and inexperienced please treat everyone with respect.
The basic ground rules for discussions on griffonHealth.com are simple: be polite, use common sense, don't break the law and don't post any message that even hints at advertising.
You are permitted a maximum of one account, active or inactive, regardless of how many companies you represent. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts will be disabled. If you require a temporary user name for any reason, please contact us for approval. If you require a user name change, please contact us. If you have forgotten your log in details and are unable to retrieve them via the system, do not create a new account, contact us. griffonHealth.com allows one account per member and one member per account.
If you're caught shilling, you're banned and you're not coming back. A shill is an owner, employee or associate of a seller of products or services who pretends (or purposefully omits) any association with the product or service, while pretending to be a satisfied customer or interested bystander. People who omit an association with a product or service for other reasons (they're paid to post about it, they're helping a friend, etc.) so that they can help promote it are also shills.
We don't intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we will enforce the policies outlined both here and on the Forum. We reserve the right to remove, modify or move posts at our discretion and without explanation. Please contact the Community Leaders via the contact link if you do not understand any of the rules, guidelines or policies outlined below.
General Forum Rules
These rules apply to all Forum categories.
Be polite. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive will be banned without warning. If you SPAM our members in any manner, your account will be disabled and your membership terminated. Do not contact anyone to suggest your product or service who is not explicitly expecting you to contact them from an advertising forum post. If you glean information from anywhere other than the advertising forums and use that information to contact someone and present an offer, it's SPAM and it will affect your griffonHealth.com account standing.
Your account is yours alone. You are responsible for any activity created with it. You may not share your account login with anyone. If you choose to ignore this important restriction your account, and any accounts associated with it, will be disabled.
All publicly displayed messages are limited to the English language. This includes posts, titles, signatures, and any attachments or other forms of public display. Signature Spam (a post that was made in hopes of showing a signature, as determined by moderators) is forbidden in all forum categories.
You may not post commission, referral or affiliate links anywhere on the forum. For clarification, if it looks like it could be one of these links, we must treat it as such.
• No Cross-Posting
Do not post the same discussion more than once on a discussion forum or on many forums. Duplicate discussions are frustrating and counterproductive for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate discussions will be deleted.
• No Advertising – Spam
Do not heedlessly place your advertisements through the Discussion Forums. This will be considered SPAM and will result in the loss of your griffonHealth.com Membership. Affiliate links are not allowed within the forums. If you wish to promote a particular program then promote the program not your own affiliate tie with it. Advertising is only permitted in the advertising forums. If you are a breeder attemting to sell dogs by advertising on our forums your account will be banned and your kennel will be placed on our wall of shame.
• Links in Signatures
Linking to a commercial product/service is fine, provided it is not a product or service that competes with a product or service offered by griffonHealth.com and it is not an affiliate program link or any other affiliate program or is linked to a breeders kennel.
Promotional text for a commercial product or service is ok, provided there are no price(s) of product(s) or service(s) listed.
A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate griffonHealth.com community standards. The gH team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs, hate and/or sex or puppy mills)
Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed.
All signatures must be made in English
• No Abuse of griffonHealth.com messenging systems (PM's, IM's, and email form)
Personal Messaging is provided to the members of griffonHealth.com as a service intended to enhance the Community experience. The purpose of personal messaging is to allow for discreet conversations to take place between members. This privilege is not to be abused! Solicitation, spamming, or harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. Any member receiving an inappropriate personal message should forward that message to an Administrator or Moderator. Although PM's are normally only accessible by those who send and receive them, they are part of the database and as such, property of griffonHealth.com. An Administrator, if so inclined, could locate the Private Messages in the database and read them. They are private, but not necessarily secret. In addition, Private Messages are not intended to deprive the Community of valuable information or experiences which could benefit the entire group. Please do not use private messages if the content of the message can be helpful to others.
• Competing Sites
The internet is a big place, and it's no surprise that from time to time a site will come along whose mission is to occupy the same niche as griffonHealth.com. We have no issue with that. However, it would be against our best interests, and therefore the best interests of our members, for us to allow such sites to build upon our popularity by promoting themselves on griffonHealth.com. Therefore, no competing site may attempt to gain traffic from griffonHealth.com in any way, including but not limited to, links in posts, signatures, profile information, PM's, emails, or IM's.
• No Copyrighted Material
Information copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the discussion forums, static pages or software libraries without the consent of the owner. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible. griffonHealth.com and it's owners shall not be held responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law. You cannot legally post entire articles or news in the forum without permission from the copyright holder. Even if you attribute the article correctly it’s still copyright infringement. Copyright law does not care if you make any money off of the work or not, what matters is if you hurt the potential income of the copyright holder. In this case you would be depriving them of ad revenue and it is illegal. Under Fair Use provisions you can legally post a small abstract of an article - or perhaps the opening paragraph. So if you want to post an article you should do this and include a link, or just post the link. The exception to this rule is press releases; press releases are meant for distribution and can be copied and distributed as much as you want. If you are not sure if you can copy something then always err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.
griffonHealth.com and its assigned agents reserves the right to remove a post which does not relate to the topic being discussed in the forum. In addition, griffonHealth.com reserves the right to organize discussion forums in order to best serve the majority of our members. For example, narrow-interest or minimal activity topics may, at gH's discretion, be relocated to a more appropriate discussion forum, or deleted entirely. griffonHealth.com or its assigned agents also reserves the right to prohibit or delete discussions that are thought to violate applicable law or that may be harmful to other members, the sites that comprise griffonHealth.com or the rights of the gH or others. That said, we cannot ensure prompt removal of offending discussion forum posts. We also reserve the right to remove your membership from you should you violate these Guidelines.
Considering the real-time nature of this website and bulletin board, it is impossible for griffonHealth.com to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that griffonHealth.com does not actively monitor the contents of all posted messages and is not responsible for any messages posted. griffonHealth.com does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message or article, and is not responsible for the contents of any message or article.
